Community

Corporate Social Responsibility

We at Ganly’s are very aware of our responsibility to not only our staff and our customers but also to the community at large.

We recognise that we must integrate our business values and operations to meet the expectations of our customers, employees, suppliers, the community and the environment.

We recognise that our social, economic and environmental responsibilities are integral to our business and we aim to demonstrate these responsibilities through our actions.

We strive to improve our environmental performance through recycling and sustainable methods.

We operate an equal opportunity policy for all present and potential employees and offer clear and fair terms of employment.

We provide safeguards to ensure all employees are treated with respect and we strive to provide and maintain a clean, healthy and safe working environment.

We will deal with and resolve customer complaints in a timely and fair manner.

We deal seriously with all feedback and encourage open dialogue.

Charities

We actively sponsor a large number of local sporting clubs and charitable events. We are a major contributor to the Tidy Towns competition and we are donators to a high number of local fund raising events.

In the past, for a number of years, we have been the main sponsor of Athlone Town Football Club, an association which we were justifiably proudly of.

Charity of the Year

In 2008 Ganly’s made the decision to implement a “Charity of the Year” programme and chose one charity which will receive all of their fund raising efforts and donations.

To date, this Charity has been “Rebuild for Bosnia” and Michael Ganly, together with a number of local businessmen, have made a commitment to raise awareness and much needed funds for the this worthy charity, whose aim is to re-house families with special needs children from the refugee camps at Tasovcici in Bosnia, almost 10 years after the war had ended.

Thus “Midlands Rebuild for Bosnia” was formed and, to date, has raised sufficient funds to house four families in clean and safe housing.

“The people that we met during our visit have lived through ethnic cleansing, concentration camps and homelessness, and a decade after the war has ended they are trying desperately to put memories of it behind them and rebuild their lives” says Michael Ganly. Bosnia, before this war, was a progressive modern country and these ordinary people lived lives very similar to our own. All this changed in 1992 when people, just like you and me, lost their families, homes, jobs and all their possessions. As well as providing new homes, we are also providing much needed hope for the future”.

In addition to organizing and running a major Golf Tournament, a Halloween Hatter’s Ball and a Country & Western concert, the majority of Ganly’s fundraising efforts and resources are donated to this worth Charity.

For further details on this Charity or on the “Charity of the Year” programme, please contact Pauline Irwin in the Athlone store.
