Lifetime Achievement
Michael Ganly, founder of Ganly’s, was honoured with the Athlone Chamber Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to business and the local community.
Starting with just four employees in 1989, Michael grew Ganly’s from a small hardware store on Magazine Road, Athlone, into one of the Midlands’ leading builders providers and home improvement retailers, now employing over 100 people across Athlone, Longford, and Mountbellew.
Known for his strong customer focus, leadership, and dedication to the community, Michael’s vision and commitment have helped make Ganly’s a trusted name throughout the region for over 35 years.
Awards
Ganly’s is proud to have been awarded the Expert Store of the Year Award in 2017, 2019, and 2020.
Our excellent customer service was further recognised by Michelle Ganly-Keyes winning the 2018 Expert Salesperson of the Year Award.
Ganly’s are multiple winners of the Irish Hardware awards with our trade centre, bathroom showroom and electrical showroom all taking home the top prize in consecutive years.
We are also so proud of our achievements with the Builder’s Merchants Award - Octabuild - having received the top award for National Builder’s Merchant of the Year four times in the last decade, winning the Connacht / Ulters (large business) category in 2019 as well as the award for Excellence in Sustainable Business category. These awards are held every two years and recognises the best in the hardware and builder’s providers industry.
Corporate Social Responsibility
As a family-owned business, we’re passionate about giving back to the community. We take action on our social, economic, and environmental responsibilities by supporting local businesses to reduce our carbon footprint, committing to our waste management policy,and donating to local, national and international charities.
Ganly’s is a founding member of Midlands Rebuild for Bosnia, a charity that raises awareness for much needed funds to rehouse families with special needs children from refugee camps in Bosnia. We also participate in work experience placements for people with an intellectual disability. Out of this programme, we have welcomed three new members to our team.
